200 Squats Challenge

squatI can’t run (FOR NOW), but I can train! I just joined the 200 Squats Challenge. The program is unique for each person because you do an initial test to determine which level you’ll start at. Depending on the results of your initial test, along with your age, you may start at week one or you may jump ahead. Then you commit to doing a specified number of squats three times a week.

Based on my initial test results, I began the challenge at week three. Today was my first day working toward 200. I’ll get there in a few weeks, but for now, I’ll be building gradually. With a 60 second break between each set, my sets today were 16, 22, 17, 17, and the final set was supposed to be a minimum of 22, but more if possible. I managed to scrape out 35 with a 15 second hold on the last one.

Since I’m in physical therapy right now, I have exercises that I’m supposed to be performing for that. Squats are one of those exercises. My physical therapist wants me to do 15 squats a day, working up to a 15 second hold time. That’s why I added the hold at the end. I guess I’m not listening to him very well, but the challenge is so much more engaging than 15 boring squats a day.

Stay tuned to hear about my progress toward completing 200 squats!

Way to be motivated when you can’t run! I started running 6 months ago, and this week I have had to miss my FIRST RUN due to illness. It sucks! And yet I am glad for the experience as I now know I must be officially, completely and 100% addicted! :)

I am sorry you can’t run….and I can’t wait to hear about your journey back!

Nice to *meet* you!
Dani
