Saturday Morning Runs

I love Saturday morning runs and I’m about to head out for one right now. I meet up with my running group almost every Saturday and when we’re on break, I often meet with friends from my group. It’s funny, every session I think I’m missing out on sleeping in on a Saturday. I pull my butt out of bed and out the door and think to myself, “I’ll sleep in in x number of weeks.” Then break time comes and I’m not sleeping in any later than I did when I was meeting the group. I’m still up and ready to run.

Saturday morning long runs with my friends is an opportunity to catch up on what’s going on in our lives. What’s going great? What are we struggling with? How are our spouses, children, parents, and neighbors doing? What has changed about a situation since we last talked? It’s my lifeline to what almost resembles a social life. Maybe that makes me less of a devout runner, but chatting with my friends through the miles makes my day. I suppose that isn’t the best method if I want to really improve my running. It’s my kind of running though!
