Last night was “Night 1” of wearing the super sexy Strassburg Sock to bed. Interesting…different…odd…not horribly uncomfortable, but certainly not the comfort of freedom I’m used to either.
My podiatrist recommended the Strassburg Sock above all other socks or boots designed to combat planar fasciitis. I went to my favorite local running store, Fit Right Northwest, which is who my running group, Get Fit Live Fit, is through. I don’t think the employees recognize me, but I’m beginning to recognize them.
One of the men working measured my calf to determine what size I needed, regular or large. First thought – Thank goodness I shaved my legs this morning. Second thought – Me, a regular? Not a large? Ok, I guess I’ll trust you. So I purchased the little sock thing-y, size regular, and went on my merry way.
I put the sock on before bed. The instructions say to fasten the velcro while you’re standing up so your toes are about 1” off the ground. Once you lay down, your foot automatically pulls back a little more than that. The foot part wasn’t terrible. I think it was harder on my toes than any other part of my foot. The part I really don’t like is how snug the top of the sock is around my calf. Maybe I should have gone for the large after all.
I woke up this morning with the sock on the floor next to my bed. Apparently I decided I’d had enough some time in the night. I will say that even though I didn’t use the sock all night, I walked better this morning than I normally do when I first get out of bed. It looks like the sock is off to a good start with me. Now let’s just hope it continues to help! Stay tuned…

Hey, I’d love to read about your Planar Fasciitis Saga and how (or if) you finally have healed from the ordeal. I’m dealing with a similar injury and happened across your blog. I hope you write about where you are at now, or just send me an email and let me know. I’ve been dealing with it for 10 weeks now and stopped running 2.5 weeks ago…. shoes in the house, etc.
